WSSLHA and the SAA were pleased to host our first Audiologist Guest Speaker Meeting with Dr. Wright. Her presentation reflected her background, the different fields Audiologists can work in and the many specialties Audiologists can focus on in practice.
Dr. Wright is a Doctor of Audiology and owns her own private practice with her husband, Advanced Audiology (opened in 2003), in two locations, DeWitt, Michigan and Haslett, Michigan. Dr. Wright received her Bachelor's of Science in 1997 and Masters degree in 1999 from Michigan State University in Audiology before doctorate programs were introduced. In 2002, she received her Doctorate of Audiology from the University of Florida in 2002. Dr. Wright was a former professor at Central Michigan University (CMU) for the Advanced Hearing Aid Doctoral level course and provides her practice as an externship site for graduate level students at CMU for the last 15 years.
Dr. Wright works with patients of all ages in a practice setting and in the local school districts of Clinton and Shiawassee counties. Dr. Wright believes that communication is vital to a person's quality of life. Her mission is to provide exceptional, trusting care to her valued patients and to help them improve their quality of life through the ability to communicated effectively. Every patient of receives individualized care and counseling that is required for hearing success.
Role of Audiologists
Audiologists work with doctors, speech-language pathologists, teachers, physical therapists, social workers, etc., to diagnose, manage and treat hearing, balance, or ear problems. By evaluating patients, audiologists will determine severity level and the type of hearing loss before creating a treatment plan.
